The Doc Ford series is set on the gulf coast of Florida. Doc Marion Ford is a retired government operative (NSA) now working as a mild-mannered marine biologist. He lives in a small stilt home/lab, at Dinkin’s Bay on Sanibel Island, making a living collecting and supplying sea life to various schools. His best friend is Tomlinson, a hippie character, educated in Eastern religions with a doctorate from Harvard. Doc generally keeps his previous clandestine life to himself, but occasionally uses his training and skills to solve crimes and track down and defeat criminals.
